Four-star Miami football top quarterback prospect Jacurri Brown wants to announce his college commitment by March 31 in an interview with Rivals.Com published Wednesday reported by David Furones of the Sun-Sentinel. That news came after QB Kaden Martin committed to the Miami baseball program Wednesday.

Martin is going to focus on baseball with the Hurricanes with the option of walking on to the Miami football program. Brown is the 167th ranked player, fifth-ranked dual-threat QB and 20th ranked in Georgia in the Class of 2022. Martin is 321st, seventh and 12th in Tennessee in the Class of 2022.

All three crystal balls logged for Brown on 247 Sports are for Miami including Andrew Ivins who logged one on Wednesday night. Furones reported that two of the three predictions on Rivals.Com also project that Brown will commit to Miami. Manny Diaz and Rhett Lashlee are building an impressive QB unit.

If Brown does commit on March 31, Miami would have a quarterback as part of their 2022 Class far earlier than when Jake Garcia was not part of the 2021 Class until he committed on Early National Signing Day on December 16. Garcia, redshirt freshman Peyton Matocha and freshman Tyler Van Dyke project for Miami at QB in 2022.

Brown was quoted by Rivals via Furones saying about his interest in Miami. “Miami…ACC, just a good school. I love [offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee]. The quality of QB Miami is attracting has improved since Lashlee was hired in January 2020. The Hurricanes signed Van Dyke in December 2019.

Brown would be the first offensive player to commit to Miami for 2022. The Hurricanes currently hold commitments from four-star defensive tackle Brandon Cleveland and three-star defensive end Jamaal Johnson. A commitment from Brown should help Miami recruit well throughout the rest of the offense.

Next. Miami still recruiting QBs after Kaden Martin commitment. dark

Miami needs to continuing accumulating talent on offense to raise the program to an elite level. The Hurricanes should have a connection with Brown being a former high school teammate of 2021 Miami signee, edge rusher Thomas Davis. Brown and Davis play(ed) for Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Georgia.
