The top quarterback prospect for the Miami football program in the Class of 2022, Jacurri Brown Tweeted on Saturday that he will announce his college commitment on March 26. The Hurricanes are one of five finalists for Brown. The other four programs are Arizona State, Auburn, Florida and Texas A&M.
Miami is the overwhelming favorite to receive a commitment from Brown with all four crystal balls from 247 Sports projected the four-star QB to the Hurricanes. Getting a commitment from Brown this month would be nearly nine months before Miami did in the 2021 Class. Jake Garcia wasn’t secured until he signed in December.
Brown will take an unofficial visit to Coral Gables the weekend of March 20 according to 247. Official visits are not allowed until May 31 because of the lockdown by the NCAA due to COVID-19. Brown will not be able to meet with anyone on the Miami staff while visiting. Brown attends Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Georgia.
Miami 2021 signee, edge rusher Thomas Davis was a teammate of Brown at Lowndes. Brown is the 167th ranked player, fifth-ranked dual-threat QB and 20th ranked player in Georgia in the Class of 2022. Brown would be the only dual-threat QB projected to be on the Miami football roster for 2022.

Miami incumbent starting QB D’Eriq King will move on after the 2021 season. The Hurricanes are expected to return redshirt freshman Peyton Matocha, freshman Tyler Van Dyke and Garcia at QB for the 2022 season. Brown is a rare talent at 6’4 205. He is an elite runner at his size. Brown is a true dual-threat QB.
In three high school seasons, Brown has run for 3,323 yards, averaged 6.8 yards per carry and scored 44 touchdowns. Brown has thrown for 3,387 yards, 28 TDs and 14 interceptions. Brown has to work on his accuracy completing 52.8 percent of his career passes. In the last two seasons, Brown has completed 56.3 percent.
