Four-star running back Cody Brown chose the Miami football program on Monday night because he likes the way he fits the offense. Brown told Rivals.Com his fit with the offense and his connection with the coaches were why he chose Miami. Before signing with Tennessee in December Brown said he almost chose Miami.

Brown was released from his National Letter of Intent by Tennessee after the Volunteers fired head coach Jeremy Pruitt and replaced him with former Central Florida head coach Josh Heupel. According to Rivals Brown choose Miami over Missouri during his transfer recruitment. Brown is Rivals’ 11th ranked RB in 2021.

Brown and 2021 signee Thad Franklin provide Miami with size in the offensive backfield. Brown is listed at 6’0 211 pounds by Rivals, Franklin 6’0 215. The 12th ranked Miami recruiting class will have 22 signees with Brown. After adding three players as transfers Brown will have to be counted towards the 2022 class.

Brown is the latest player to join the Miami football program from Georgia. The Lilburn Parkview star originally signed with Tennessee over Auburn, Florida State and Penn State according to Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports. Brown will become the sixth scholarship player from the Peach State on the Miami roster.

"“I almost chose Miami the first time around because I really connected with the coaches and I fit the offense really well…The Miami coaches never really stopped recruiting me until I signed at Tennessee, and the second I was released, they were blowing up my phone trying to get me.It was really hard at first because I thought the whole recruitment thing was behind me. but all of the sudden I was back in it and had to make that hard decision all over again. ‘But this time around I had some more insight about the business of college football and I knew what to look for.”"

The Miami staff was reportedly pushing hard for Brown once he was released from his NLI by Tennessee. Miami needed to add depth at RB after losing Robert Burns as a transfer during the offseason. Miami returns leading rusher Cam’Ron Harris, Don Chaney Jr. and Jaylan Knighton for the 2021 season.
