The Miami football team is building on their 8-3 2020 season per offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee. Lashlee is confident in the vision head coach Manny Diaz is building with the Hurricanes. Shortly after Miami finished the 2020 regular season the Hurricanes signed the 12th best class in the 2021 recruiting cycle.

In his first season as the offensive coordinator, Lashlee helped transform the Miami offense. The talent on the Miami football roster has improved with back-to-back top16 classes. Miami has also been aggressive in the transfer portal to add talent throughout the roster. Two of Lashlee’s key players on offense are transfers.

Quarterback D’Eriq King completely transformed the culture throughout the Miami football team. The off-field work ethic King has and the presence he brings on the field raised the play of the entire Miami football program. Miami has to continue to build on its success on the field and acquire good signing classes.

The Miami staff has not been able to get out and recruit to meet with prospects in person over the last year because of the COVID-19 restrictions. Miami added King and right tackle Jarrid Williams through the transfer portal from Houston in 2020 and wide receiver Charleston Rambo in January.

"“Winning and success attracts people…We haven’t been out recruiting because of COVID. These kids haven’t been on campus. But I know what coach [Manny] Diaz’s vision is and what we’re building. We have a lot of really talented players down here and there’s no reason they shouldn’t want to come to The U first.”"

Lashlee was quoted by Barry Jackson in the Miami Herald earlier this week. Miami signed four-star QB Jake Garcia in the Class of 2021 after he was committed to USC for over a year. The Hurricanes are attracting people. Miami has only one commit in the Class of 2022 but could add some soon.

Four-Star QB Jacurri Brown will announce his college destination on Friday. Four-star defensive tackle Brandon Cleveland is the only commit in the 2022 Miami class. If the Hurricanes add Brown, more offensive players should follow, especially at the skill positions. If Miami keeps winning the players will want to go to Coral Gables.
