The Miami football program is in a good position to receive a commitment from four-star quarterback Jacurri Brown following his visit this past weekend and ahead of his commitment announcement on Friday. All six predictions from 247Sports.Com project that Brown will commit to the Hurricanes.
Brown visited Coral Gables over the weekend with three-star athlete Isaiah Bond. Bond spoke to David Furones of the Sun-Sentinel to discuss their visit and recruitment. Brown picked up his sixth crystal ball from 247 on Monday from David Lake of Inside the U. Brown is the primary 2022 QB target for Miami.
The Miami football program currently has three QBs on their roster entering the 2021 season that will have eligibility remaining in 2022. Redshirt freshman Peyton Matocha, freshman Tyler Van Dyke and 2021 signee Jake Garcia are all competing for Miami during spring practice for a chance to be the second team QB in 2021.
Brown is the 167th ranked player, fifth-ranked dual-threat QB and 20th ranked player in Georgia in the Class of 2022. At 6’4, 205 pounds and an elite runner, Brown would be a perfect fit in the Rhett Lashlee spread offense. Brown has completed 52.8 percent of his passes for 3,387 28 TDs and 14 interceptions in his high school career.

"“The overall visit, it was great…I had an amazing and fun time down there visiting the campus…We both liked it…It exceeded my expectations. I didn’t expect it to be as big as it was…I enjoyed every bit of it…He (Brown) said he loved it so far.”"
Brown could provide the Miami football team with a threat as a runner similar to what D’Eriq King gave them in 2020, but with far more size. Brown has run for 3,323 and 44 TDs in 40 games for Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Georgia. Miami signed Brown’s high school teammate Thomas Davis in the Class of 2021.
Bond plays for Buford in Northeast Suburban Atlanta. Miami redshirt freshman defensive tackle Jalar Holley graduated from Buford. Gaining a commitment from Brown in the Class of 2022 could help the rest of the Hurricanes class. Miami did not gain their QB in the Class of 2021 until Garcia signed on National Signing Day.
Bond told Furones “I could definitely see a movement coming if that happens” in reference to Miami beginning to earn more commitments if Brown commits on Friday. The Hurricanes currently only have a commitment from four-star DT Brandon Cleveland of Tampa Sandalwood.
