The Miami football program is one of two of five finalists recruiting four-star quarterback Jacurri Brown without a commitment at the position for 2022. Arizona State, Auburn, Florida and Texas A&M are the other finalists for Brown. The Sun Devils are the only other finalist for Brown without a 2022 QB commit.

Miami did not sign a quarterback in the Class of 2021 until Jake Garcia made it official with his National Letter of Intent on Early National Signing Day in December. Garcia had been committed to USC until about a month before signing his NLI. Brown is expected to commit to Miami on Friday live on CBS Sports Network.

Auburn currently holds a commitment from three-star pro-style QB Holden Geriner. Geriner is the 389th ranked player, 18th ranked pro-style QB and 36th ranked player in Georgia for 2022. Brown is 167th overall, the fifth-ranked dual-threat QB and 20th ranked player in Georgia.

Florida holds a commitment from three-star pro-style QB Nick Evers. Evers is the 448th ranked player, 20th ranked pro-style QB and 64th ranked player in Texas out of Flower Mound in the Class of 2022. Florida coach Dan Mullen has developed QBs throughout his career. Kyle Trask is projected as a second-day pick in 2021.

Texas A&M has a commitment from four-star dual-threat QB Connor Weigman. Weigman is the 71st ranked player, second-ranked dual-threat QB and 12th ranked player in Texas in 2022. Brown is rated significantly higher than Geriner and Evers but ranked below Weigman. Miami would be getting an elite QB.

Among other Miami football rivals, Florida State has a commitment from four-star pro-style QB Nicco Marchiol. Marchiol is the 295th ranked player, 13th ranked pro-style QB and third-ranked player in Arizona out of Hamilton High School in Chandler in the Class of 2022. A commitment from Brown would be the best QB in Florida.

The potential commitment from Brown to join Garcia, 2020 signee Tyler Van Dyke and 2019 signee Peyton Matocha would provide Miami with an excellent QB room for 2022. Head coach Manny Diaz and offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee have done an exceptional job securing QBs in the last two recruiting cycles.
