Miami finished 29th in passing yards per game

, 43rd in completion percentage and 29th in passer rating in 2020.

In addition to Perry, Rosier and Williams, Miami also had Cade Weldon and walkon Ryan Rizk on the 2018 roster. Perry and Weldon signed in the Class of 2017.

Perry was a four-star signee and the seventh-ranked dual-threat QB nationally with a rating of 0.9218 from 247 Sports. Miami signed four-star QB Jack Allison in 2016.

Weldon received a grade of 0.8580 and was the 27th ranked pro-style QB in the Class of 2017 when he signed with Miami.

Williams signed with Miami in 2018 as the fifth-ranked pro-style QB and graded 0.9614 by 247. Williams redshirted as a true freshman while Perry and Rosier struggled at QB.

In 2019, Miami signed three-star QB Peyton Matocha who was the 34th ranked dual-threat signal-caller and graded at 0.8349 and is the longest-tenured QB on the Miami roster. Martell was an elite QB coming out of high school who has never come close to living up to this ranking. Martell was graded at 0.9739.

As the 56th ranked player nationally and second-ranked dual-threat QB, Martell was expected to have a great career at Ohio State. When the Buckeyes added Justin Fields as a transfer from Georgia, Martell entered his name in the portal and signed with Miami. Martell completed his only pass attempt for seven yards with Miami.
