Miami Hurricanes TE Brevin Jordan disappointed with Pro Day
Miami Hurricanes tight end Brevin Jordan said he was disappointed with the numbers he put up on Pro Day on Monday. Jordan discussed his performance after Pro Day but disputed the results he put up. Jordan realized he has to remain focused and get back to training.
Pro Football Focus ranks Jordan as the third-best TE prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft. Kyle Pitts of Florida who is considered a generational talent and Pat Friermuth of Penn State are the only TEs projected to be drafted ahead of Jordan next month. Jordan’s numbers on Monday compared favorably with other TEs.
At the 2020 NFL Combine, Jordan would have finished tie for second in the 40-yard dash, his shuttle number was subpar and his number in the vertical jump was about average. Jordan has move than proven he is adept as a block and receiver. Jordan finished his career with 105 receptions 1,358 yards and 13 TDs.
Jordan was one of the best Miami Hurricanes players for all three seasons he was on the roster. Jordan started all 26 games he played at Miami. Speaking to reporters, Jordan was passionate about what he put into Miami during his three seasons and what the school has meant to him. Jordan had a message for his doubters.
"“I’m kind of disappointed, honestly. I ran a 4.6 40… The shuttle? There’s no way I ran a 4.6 [4.62]. I can run a 4.3 without trying. I need to get the official time for the shuttle. And the vert, I jumped a 34’’ and expected “a 38.But Manny Diaz taught me to play the next play, so we’re going to play the next play, we’re going to get back to training. It’s time to focus on some real football.’’"
Jordan helped continue the legacy at TE for Miami. Monday was the sole time Jordan had in front of NFL administrators and scouts. With one month left until the draft, as Jordan said he needs to get back to training and focus on some real football. The work Jordan puts in over the next month will help determine the rest of his life.
With Greg Olsen retiring and Jimmy Graham at the end of his career, Jordan has the potential to be the next great Miami TE. There is more than Combine and Pro Day numbers to determine where a player will be selected in the NFL Draft. Jordan will likely have zoom meetings with various NFL teams ahead of the draft.
