The lone commit to the Miami Hurricanes 2022 football class, four-star quarterback Jacurri Brown announced on Twitter on Tuesday morning he is taking his official visit to Coral Gables the weekend of June 11 through 13. Brown committed to Miami after visiting the Miami campus on his own last month.
Brown visited Miami with three-star athlete Isaiah Bond who has two crystal ball projections for Miami. Although Brown is the sole Miami Hurricanes commit for 2022, head coach Manny Diaz said during a Zoom call with reporters on Tuesday he expects more pledges during June after the NCAA expected dead period is lifted.
Brown is the 167th ranked player, fifth dual-threat QB and 20th ranked player in Georgia in the Class of 2022. Miami has a deep roster at QB entering the 2022 season. The Hurricanes will lose star signal-caller D’Eriq King following the 2021 season but have three QBs on the roster who will remain for 2022.
Redshirt freshman Peyton Matocha, freshman Tyler Van Dyke and 2021 signee Jake Garcia have shared the snaps this spring with King out following surgery to repair a torn ACL he suffered in the Cheez-it Bowl loss to Oklahoma State. Van Dyke has reportedly edged in front of Garcia and Matocha this spring.
Brown tagged fellow 2022 prospects Bond and three-star WRs Jayden Gibson and Quan Lee on his Tweet. The commitment from Brown early in the 2022 recruiting cycle is expected to help Miami receive more commitments, especially on offense. Brown has stated he will help recruit others 2022 prospects.
Miami is deep at WR with only senior Mike Harley definitely departing following the 2021 season. Oklahoma transfer Charleston Rambo, juniors Mark Pope and Dee Wiggins and second-year redshirt freshman Jeremiah Payton are eligible for the 2022 NFL Draft. Brown will have a critical weekend for potential future teammates.
