Miami Hurricanes CB Tyrique Stevenson will be top 10 impact transfer
The addition of cornerback Tyrique Stevenson as a transfer from Georgia during the 2021 offseason will help the Miami Hurricanes pass defense this fall. Miami finished 65th nationally in passing yards allowed per game in 2020. Stevenson is expected to play outside CB for Miami after playing mostly in the slot in 2020.
In two seasons with Georgia, Stevenson had 47 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and 10 pass breakup. Stevenson, Al Blades Jr. and D.J. Ivey give Miami three experienced outside CBs in 2021 and Te’Cory Couch will play most of the snaps as the slot CB. Stevenson played 258 snaps as a slot CB in 2020 and 55 outside.
Stevenson is a huge addition to the Miami Hurricanes roster. A four-star signee out of high school, Stevenson was the 37th ranked player, third-ranked CB and fourth-ranked player in Florida in the Class of 2019. Stevenson will be the third highest-ranked player on the Miami roster in 2021 behind a pair of 2021 signees.
Defensive tackle Leonard Taylor is graded .9940 by 247 Sports, safety James Williams .9922 and Stevenson .9831. Stevenson has three seasons of eligibility remaining. With a good 2021 season, there is a good chance that Stevenson will enter the 2021 NFL Draft. Stevenson can become Miami’s 2021 Jaelan Phillips.

Stevenson was ranked the seventh greatest impact transfer in college football in 2021 by 247 Sports. Miami head coach Manny Diaz has made a concerted effort to upgrade the talent on the Hurricanes roster. Miami has been one of the most active programs in college football in the transfer portal.
Phillips is likely to be one of the first edge rushers taken and a first-round pick in the NFL Draft later this month. With an outstanding 2021 season, Stevenson has a chance to raise his profile in the 2022 NFL Draft as Phillips did in the last year. At 6’0, 202 pounds, Stevenson has the length to be an impact CB in the NFL.
