The Peach Bowl who runs the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff classic the Miami football team will compete in against Alabama on September 4 announced a 3:30 PM kickoff. The decision for the Crimson Tide and Hurricanes to have an afternoon kickoff allows the Clemson versus Georgia Game to be played in prime time.

The Miami football team is not expected to be as competitive with Alabama as the Tigers and Bulldogs will be in Charlotte. Alabama is the likely consensus preseason number one team, followed by Clemson. Miami would not play Clemson in 2021 unless they meet in the ACC Championship game in December.

Clemson defeated Miami 42-17 in Death Valley in 2020. Miami will be at Clemson again in 2022. The last two times the Crimson Tide and Hurricanes have played a National Championship has been on the line. Miami won 33-25 in the 1990 Sugar Bowl. Alabama won 34-13, three years return in a return in New Orleans.

Alabama is coming off a record-setting season. The Crimson Tide crushed Ohio State 52-24 to win last season’s National Championship. Miami has recently played in kickoff games in 2019 and 2018. The Hurricanes lost 33-17 in the 2018 Advocare Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Miami lost 24-20 to Florida in the 2019 Camping World Classic at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. The Hurricanes could be scheduled for future kickoff games to begin the season. Only the 2024 non-conference schedule for Miami is complete. The 2022 schedule has two non-conference games currently scheduled.

Expect games at Michigan State and against Temple that were canceled in 2020 to be rescheduled. Miami is already scheduled to play at Temple in 2023. Miami is scheduled to host Southern Mississippi on September 10, 2022, and play at Texas A&M on September 17, 2022.

Miami would have an extremely difficult non-conference schedule if Michigan State and Temple were added in 2022. Expect those games to be rescheduled in different seasons. The remainder of the 2021 non-conference schedule is Appalachian State September 11, at Michigan State the 18 and Central Connecticut State the 25.
