The Miami football team has primarily a young linebacker corps. Only returning starter Bradley Jennings Jr. has extensive experience. The 2020 season was the only one that Jennings had with extensive playing time. Miami received subpar play from its LBs last season. Expect Miami to add a few LBs in the next year.

The Hurricanes could still add a LB through the transfer portal before or after the 2021 season. Miami is reportedly considering former Vanderbilt LB Dimitri Moore as a transfer for the 2021 season. The Hurricanes have seven LBs strongly considering them in the Class of 2022. Four of those seven LBs are four-stars.

Which LBs Miami signs in the Class of 2022 could be influenced by who returns at the position after the 2021 season. Entering 2021, in addition to Jennings Jr., Miami has Tirek Austin-CaveSam Brooks Jr.Corey Flagg Jr., Avery HuffKeontra Smith and Waynmon Steed. Smith moved from striker this spring.

DeMario Tolan is the 242nd ranked player, ninth-ranked inside LB and 28th ranked player in Florida in 2022 via the 247 Sports composite rankings. Tolan is the highest-ranked of the ILBs considering the Miami football program. Auburn, Florida State, LSU and Tennessee are the other schools currently listed as warm with Tolan.

Justin Medlock is the 441st ranked player, 13th ranked ILB and 60th ranked player in Texas in the Class of 2022. Medlock plays for Manvel High School who also produced Miami quarterback D’Eriq King. Miami LB Corey Flagg also matriculated in Coral Gables from Houston. Medlock is also strongly considering four other programs.
