Miami baseball begins ACC Tournament 11 AM Thursday versus Duke

The Miami baseball team will begin ACC Tournament play on Thursday at 11 AM. The fourth-seeded Hurricanes will play fifth seed Florida State on Friday after facing the ninth-seeded Blue Devils on Thursday. Miami finished the regular season 32-17 overall and 20-15 in the ACC. The Hurricanes are 21st in the Collegiate Baseball poll.

The Miami baseball learned on Saturday night they would play Duke and Florida State  The schedule to the ACC Tournament was announced on Sunday. Florida State finished the 2021 season 29-21 overall and  20-16 in the ACC to earn the fifth seed in the tournament. Duke finished 28-20, 16-17 to gain the ninth seed.

Miami ended the season 32-17 overall and 20-15 in the ACC. The Hurricanes finished a half-game behind Georgia Tech in the ACC Coastal Division. Florida State finished third in the Atlantic Division and Duke tied for fifth in the Coastal. Miami was swept by Florida State in a series the Seminoles outscored the Hurricanes 34-2.

Miami swept Duke in Coral Gables in April. The Hurricanes outscored the Blue Devils 21-7 in the three-game series. Miami enters the ACC Tournament after a three-game sweep of previously 19th ranked Louisville. Florida State lost two out of three at North Carolina State this weekend. Duke has won eight straight games.

Miami has a tough path to the ACC Tournament semifinals. The Hurricanes have to overcome the embarrassing sweep by Florida State earlier this season. Duke enters the ACC Tournament as one of the hottest teams in the conference. Duke and Florida State will begin Pool D on Wednesday at 11 AM.

Notre Dame enters the ACC Tournament as the top overall seed. The winner of Pool D will play the winner of Pool A led by the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame will player eight-seeded Virginia and ninth seed Virginia Tech. Miami and Notre Dame did not play in 2021. The NCAA Tournament announcement is on May 31 at Noon ET.
