The Miami football program has landed a coveted June 25 visit for four-star tight end Jaleel Skinner. Skinner is a versatile player who had snaps at cornerback, TE and wide receiver last season. The 94th ranked player in the nation is third at TE and third in his home state of South Carolina.

Miami is one of 10 finalists for Skinner with Alabama, Arizona State, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas. Skinner has nine crystal balls split between Clemson, Florida and Florida State. Skinner has visits set for Florida on June 9 and Arizona State on June 15 before visiting Miami.

Skinner also has a visit scheduled with the Seminoles on September 25. The Miami coaching staff will have a chance to work out Skinner three months ahead of his trip to Tallahassee. Skinner will be visiting the Hurricanes during Paradise Camp weekend. Miami has offered scholarships to all three of the top 2022 TEs.

The visit by Skinner to Miami will commence six days prior to the beginning of another dead period in recruiting. Miami began the June evaluation period with a cookout on Tuesday. June 1 began the first time since March of 2020 that recruits were able to visit college programs since recruiting was shut down because of COVID.

"MIAMI“When the next dead period arrives, it will be Miami with the last face-to-face meeting with Skinner. The Hurricanes secured the coveted June 25-27 official visit from Skinner, and when he leaves campus, the dead period returns.Sure, schools can still do virtual visits and talk to him a bunch, but the end of what could be an exhausting four weeks comes when he leaves the Coral Gables campus. His official visit aligns with Miami’s Paradise Camp, which is a huge gathering of talent and a cornerstone of the Hurricanes’ recruiting efforts.Miami got heavily involved with Skinner with an Aug. 6 (2020) offer.”"

The above evaluation of Skinner came from Brian Dohn of 247 Sports. Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State and South Carolina are listed as warm by 247 or the schools Skinner is most strongly considering. The Gamecocks listed there is a contradiction to the 10 finalists Skinner posted on Twitter last week.

Next. Miami just went up for 2023 5-star WR Brandon Inniss. dark

The Miami football program is likely to lose Will Mallory after the 2021 season. Mallory has two seasons of eligibility remaining after the NCAA granted an extra year for all 2020-21 athletes. Behind Mallory, Miami has 2021 signees Elijah Arroyo and Khalil Brantley, third-year TE Larry Hodges and second-year Dominic Mammerelli.
