Miami football 2021 signee Cody Brown played for HC who produces FBS RBs
Four-star 2021 signee Cody Brown who matriculated with the Miami football program after initially signing with Tennessee out of Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia who has a history of producing FBS running backs. Lilburn head coach Eric Godfrey has done a good job preparing RBs for the next level.
Brown ran for 5,221 yards averaging 7.9 yards per carry with 79 touchdowns and 27 100-yard games in 45 appearances for Parkview during his four-year high school career. Brown is the 232nd ranked player, 13th ranked RB and 21st ranked player in Georgia in 2021. Miami also signed RB Thad Franklin in 2021.
Head coach Eric Godfrey coached former Miami football and UCF RB Storm Johnson at Loganville High School Georgia and Brown, Sean Dawkins of Troy, Auburn RB Brad Lester and Christian Malloy from Georgia Tech at Parkview. Brown and Johnson were four-star signees, Dawkins, Lester and Malloy, three-stars.
Johnson ran nine times for 112 yards and one TD, had one reception for nine yards and returned nine kickoffs for 194 yards in one season for Miami in 2010. At UCF Johnson became a star. After sitting out in 2011, Johnson ran for 507 yards and one TD and had 10 receptions for 20 yards in 2012.
Johnson broke out as a redshirt junior in 2013 rushing for 1,139 yards and 14 TDs had 30 receptions for 260 yards and three TDs. After his redshirt junior season with the Knights, Johnson declared for the NFL Draft. Johnson was selected in the seventh round, 222nd overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Dawkins had mild success at Troy. Dawkins ran for 508 yards and four TDs and added 32 receptions for 200 yards. Lester ran for 1,689 yards and 19 TDs and caught 26 passes for 258 yards and three TDs. Contributing to special teams, Lester had 541 yards in kickoff returns with an impressive 27.1 average.
Malloy had 11 carries for 59 yards in 2018 and 2019 with Georgia Tech. Malloy did not play last season after transferring to Coastal Carolina. Beginning in 2021, Malloy will have three seasons of eligibility remaining. Parkview has also produced NFL star RBs Chris Carson and Brandon Jacobs.
