Three-star wide receiver Quan Lee who committed to the Miami football program earlier this spring future dedicated himself to the Hurricanes by Tweeting he is shutting down his recruitment. Lee was in Coral Gables this weekend taking his official visit. Lee was scheduled for official visits to UCF and Coastal Carolina.

Miami was the only Power Five program seriously involved in the recruitment of Lee. About a dozen other Power Programs offered Lee a scholarship. Four-star quarterback Jacurri Brown is the only other player committed to Miami for 2022. A few more should be committing in the next few weeks.

Playing for F.W. Buchholz High School in Gainesville, Lee has 86 receptions for 1,896 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns entering his senior season. Lee ran an 11.11 second 100 meters in March. The Hurricanes deep passing game was inconsistent in 2020. A player with Lee’s speed will help improve that in the future.

In addition to Lee, 2022 four-star WRs Isaiah Bond, Jayden Gibson and Isaiah Horton were in Coral Gables this weekend. Bond is committed to Florida and the Gators are the projected leaders to receive commitments from Gibson and Horton. Miami could lose as many as five WRs to the 2022 NFL Draft.

Miami will try and sign two to three WRs in the Class of 2022. The Hurricanes signed four WRs in the Class of 2020 and three in 2021. Earlier this year, offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee and WR coach Rob Likens mentioned the Miami football team would like to have an eight to nine-man WR rotation.

Jeremiah Payton, Mark Pope and Dee Wiggins will all be eligible for the 2022 NFL Draft. None of the three are currently projected to be draft. The decisions that Payton, Pope and Wiggins make could determine how many and which WRs Miami signs in the Class of 2022. Miami is building good WR depth for the future.
