Miami football adds another blue chip DL visit with 4-star Anthony Lucas next

The Miami football program continues to stockpile visits from blue-chip defensive linemen with four-star Anthony Lucas from Scottsdale, Arizona Chapparal traveling to Coral Gables this weekend according to 247 Sports. Lucas is the 83rd ranked player nationally, 14th ranked DL and top-ranked in Arizona in 2022.

Five-star DL Bear Alexander and Shemar Stewart visited Coral Gables this weekend. Alexander used his official visit. Stewart has visited the Miami football program three times this month without using his official visit. Alabama, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA and USC are the main competition for Lucas.

Lucas has an extremely busy June scheduled. The first two weekends of June Lucas has taken visits to Texas A&M, Notre Dame and Oregon. Lucas visited Notre Dame on Friday and Oregon on Sunday according to his 247 profile. After Miami this coming weekend Lucas will visit Alabama the weekend of June 25.

In the past two seasons for Chapparal Lucas has 75 tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss and 13 sacks. Miami has been making a strong push on the DL in the Class of 2022. The Hurricanes will lose projected 2021 starting defensive ends DeAndre Johnson and Zach McCloud after this season. Miami has to replace DEs in consecutive years.

According to his 247 Sports profile, Lucas has the force to play inside and the athleticism to play outside. Miami could also lose three defensive tackles after this season. Jon Ford is definitely gone and Jared Harrison-Hunte, Jordan Miller and Nesta Silvera are eligible for the 2022 NFL Draft. Miller is extremely unlikely to leave.

Lucas is the sole blue-chip DL scheduled to visit Miami through the end of June. Two weeks out the visits can evolve. Miami expects to add more 2022 commitments following a bevy of visits throughout June. Head coach Manny Diaz and his staff have been more deliberate in their recruiting this year than in past cycles.
