Miami football commit from Khamuari Rogers highest CB since 2012
Four-star cornerback Khamauri Rogers who committed to the Miami football program on Saturday would be the highest-ranked player at the position for the Hurricanes since five-star Tracy Howard in 2012. Rogers the third commit to the 2022 Miami recruiting class and the Hurricanes first on defense.
Four-star quarterback Jacurri Brown and three-star wide receiver Quan Lee were previously committed to the Miami football program. Rogers who is from Lexington, Mississippi becomes the second out of state player with Brown who is from Georgia in the 2022 Class. Lee is from Gainesville, Florida.
Rogers committed to Miami after having three crystal balls that projected him to Mississippi earlier this year. The Rogers commitment to Miami was made while he is on his official visit this weekend. Rogers chose Miami over Michigan, Mississippi, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
Rogers has visits scheduled to Tennessee on June 25 and Mississippi on July 30. It is not known if he still plans on going to Knoxville and Oxford. Cornerbacks coach DeMarcus VanDyke led the recruitment of Rogers. Van Dyke was promoted to position coach during the offseason after previously working on the recruiting staff.
Miami will likely add another CB or two in the 2022 class. The Hurricanes could lose as many as four CBs after the 2021 season. Al Blades Jr., Te’Cory Couch, D.J. Ivey and Tyrique Stevenson are ell eligible for the 2022 NFL Draft. With a good season, Stevenson is almost definitely headed to the next level.
Rogers is the 61st ranked player, ninth-ranked CB and second-ranked player in Mississippi in 2022. Previously pledged to LSU, Rogers de-committed from the Tigers in December. Miami moves from the 69th ranked class to 51st, passing UCF who has four recruits. More commitments should be occurring soon.
Rogers was one of nine prospects in Coral Gables this weekend. In addition to Rogers, three-star CB Nick Cull also took his official visit with the Miami football program this weekend. Four-star CBs Tequon Fegans and Jacoby Spells took their official visits with the Hurricanes earlier this month.
