Reports from the Arizona State and Miami 247 Sports sites indicate that four-star linebacker Devon Jackson has narrowed his finalists to those two. The Miami football program could be in a good position. Although all four crystal balls project Jackson to ASU, that could be changing with the Sun Devils facing major violations.

The crystal balls for Jackson were made in April. Arizona State’s potential violations have been reported in the last few days. On his 247 Sports profile, ASU, Miami and Oklahoma are listed as the three schools Jackson is most strongly considering according to his 247 Sports profile. Jackson will visit Coral Gables this weekend.

No other official visits are listed on Jackson’s 247 Sports profile. Jackson is one of six recruits and two LBs visiting Miami this weekend. Four-star Demario Tolan from Orlando Dr. Phillips is the other. Five LBs have visited Miami this month. Three-star LB Omar Graham from Fort Lauderdale Stranahan has since committed to FSU.

Jackson is the 161st ranked player, 18th ranked LB and second-ranked player in Nebraska in the Class of 2022. Miami has offered scholarships to 24 LBs in the Class of 2022. Seven LBs are listed as strongly considering Miami according to the 247 Sports database. Four-star LB Wesley Bissainthe is the 2022 recruit to watch.

Miami should have a lot of depth at LB entering the 2022 season. All of the LBs currently on the Miami football roster have eligibility remaining beyond 2021. The Hurricanes need to upgrade the roster at LB after inconsistent play at the position in 2020. Jackson would provide Miami with outstanding size at 6’2 200 pounds.

Jackson is additionally highly regarded as one of the fastest LBs in the Class of 2022. Miami has a tradition of signing players with speed at LB. Jackson is the ideal combination of length and speed. The recruitment of Jackson is being led by Miami LB coach Jonathan Patke with offensive line coach Garin Justice the secondary recruiter.

Patke who doubles as the special teams’ coordinator was moved from the outside LB/striker coach during the offseason. A commitment from Jackson would be big to a 2022 Miami recruiting Class that received its first defensive commitment over the weekend. Four-star CB Khamauri Rogers committed to Miami on Saturday.
