The 2022 Miami football recruiting class doubled in size over the weekend with two new commitments. Four-star cornerback Khamauri Rogers and three-star wide receiver Landon Ibieta committed to the Hurricanes. Miami moved up to 48th in the 2022 Class rankings with commitments from Ibieta and Rogers.
Miami has the highest-ranked class with only four commits. Several prospects are trending towards the Hurricanes per the 247 Sports crystal balls. Five-star defensive lineman Shermar Stewart, four-stars, DL Dante Anderson, linebacker Wesley Bissainthe and CB Chris Graves, plus three-star CB Nick Cull are trending to Miami.
Commitments from those five plus the four players currently committed to Miami would elevate the 2022 Hurricanes recruiting class ahead of Florida State and into eighth nationally. Manny Diaz has taken a deliberate approach with the 2022 Class. Diaz wants players who truly want to be at Miami.
In addition to Ibieta and Rogers, Miami holds commitments from four-star quarterback Jacurri Rogers and three-star WR Quan Lee. All four of the current Miami commits are from outside South Florida. Lee is the only one of the four from Florida. Brown is from Georgia, Ibieta Louisiana and Rogers Mississippi.
Anderson, Bissainthe and Stewart are from South Florida. Graves from Fort Myers and Cull from Georgia. Multiple commits could occur for Miami in July. This upcoming weekend is big for Miami with Paradise Camp. This is also the last weekend the Hurricanes will have visitors for a while with another dead period beginning July 1.
Gaining commitments from any combination of Anderson, Bissainthe and Stewart would be important for Miami. Diaz wants to restore the Hurricanes to be successful in signing blue chip (four or five-star) players from South Florida. When the Miami football program is at its best they are signing players from South Florida.
Miami signed 14 blue-chip players in the Class of 2021. Ten of those 14 signees were from Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach Counties. Miami signed another five players from the three South Florida counties in the Class of 2022. The Hurricanes 2021 recruiting class should start taking shape as the summer progresses.
