The Miami football program has four 2022 commits, but none are from South Florida. The Hurricanes received commits from four-star cornerback Khamauri Rogers and three-star wide receiver Landon Ibieta over the weekend. Four-star quarterback Jacurri Brown from Georgia and three-star WR Quan Lee previously committed.

Lee who is from Gainesville is the lone current 2022 commit to the Miami football program from Florida. It is far too early to be concerned about the lack of 2022 commits from the State of Miami. The State of Miami was developed by legendary Hurricanes head coach Howard Schnellenberger in the late 1970s.

Schnellenberger created the State of Miami as a virtual fence initially around Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. The Miami staff was given the task to seal off the three counties that make up South Florida and sign as many recruits from there as possible. South Florida has nearly double the amount of NFL players as elsewhere.

Miami leads for several players who have not committed yet. Five-star defensive lineman Shermar Stewart, four-stars, DL Dante Anderson, linebacker Wesley Bissainthe are the players from South Florida that most appear to be leaning towards Miami. Signing those three would be a huge boost.

Stewart has crystal balls projecting him to Miami from national recruiting experts Andrew Ivins and Steve Wiltfong. The Hurricanes having a winning season will be important to sign the five-star DL. Stewart is not expected to commit until he signs his National Letter of Intent in December.

Anderson has one crystal ball to Miami. No commitment date has been announced by Anderson. Anderson will visit Miami this weekend after he took his first official visit to Georgia Tech last weekend. Anderson took unofficial visits to Florida and Florida State earlier this month.

Bissainthe has only one crystal ball that projects he will commit to Miami. A fall commitment date from Bissainthe is expected. Florida State, Penn State and West Virginia are the main competition to receive a commitment from Bissainthe. Bissainthe has taken official visits to Miami, Penn State and West Virginia.
