The Miami football program is the co-favorite after being named in the top three for four-star cornerback Jacolby Spells with Indiana and West Virginia. The Hurricanes and Mountaineers each have a crystal ball projecting Spells will sign with their programs. West Virginia has the more recent crystal ball.

Spells has taken official visits with West Virginia, Indiana and Miami football programs the last three weekends. An unofficial visit to Georgia was also fit in this month. Spells is the 244th ranked player, 27th cornerback and 28th in Florida in the Class of 2022 out of American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale.

Miami received a commitment from four-star Khamauri Rogers at CB following a visit last weekend. The Hurricanes have offered 28 CBs for 2022. Four other CBs in addition to Spells are strongly considering Miami. Nick Cull from Georgia and Trequon Fagans out of Alabama are the other two CBs to watch.

Chris Graves who is listed by an athlete by 247 Sports is projected as CB has Miami as the projected leader to receive a commitment. Spells has no other visits scheduled following his trip to Bloomington last weekend. Spells recruitment is being led by CB coach Demarcus Van Dyke and defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson.

Spells had 32 tackles and a 52-yard interception return last season after switching from wide receiver to CB. Known also for his speed, Spells was recorded running 10.79 in the 100 meters in April 2020. Miami is likely to add two or three CBs in the Class of 2022. The Hurricanes could lose as many as four CBs to the 2022 NFL Draft.

Al Blades, D.J. Ivey, Te’Cory Couch and Tyrique Stevenson are all eligible for the NFL Draft. Waiting behind them are Marcus Clarke, Isaiah Dunson and Jalen Harrell who moved from safety during spring practice. Spells and Rogers would be huge additions for the future and a great potential tandem for the Miami defense.
