Miami football good shape for 4-star DL Zane Durant with July 4 announcement
The Miami football program is in good shape ahead of a July 4 commitment date for four-star defensive lineman Zane Durant. Durant is the 20th ranked strongside defensive end by Rivals.Com, the 339th ranked player overall and 42nd ranked player in Florida by the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Durant took his official visit with the Miami football program this weekend as part of Paradise Camp. This has been a busy month for Durant who has also taken official visits to Indiana the weekend of June 11 and Penn State June 18. The Hurricanes, Hoosier and Nittany Lions appear to be the leaders for Durant.
Durant has also taken unofficial visits to Miami for the June 1 cookout, Tennessee on June 7 and three trips to Central Florida. No crystal balls have been logged yet for Durant. Miami is the only school that Durant took an official visit to that he was at more than once. That should be a good sign for Miami.
Defensive line coach Jess Simpson and his predecessor Todd Stroud, who he also preceded, are building a deep and talented defensive line. Gaining a commitment from Durant would continue to add depth to the Miami DL. Indiana and Penn State each have one DL committed in the Class of 2022. Miami does not have any.
Four-star cornerback Khamauri Rogers is the only defensive player committed to Miami for 2022 out of their four pledges. Four-star quarterback Jacurri Brown and three-star wide receivers Landon Ibieta and Quan Lee are also committed to Miami for 2022. Durant is one of a handful of Miami prospects announcing in early July.
Durant has 103 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles in 27 games for Lake Nona High School in Orlando. Under three different DL coaches with Manny Diaz leading the Miami defense, the Hurricanes have repeatedly produced DL. Durant can be the next great Hurricanes DL.
