The Miami football program has a few new cornerbacks on their recruiting board according to Rivals.Com. Jaquise Alexander, Deyon Bouie and Elijah McCantos are all CBs considering Miami per Adam Gorney of Rivals. Bouie is a four-star prospect per Rivals’ rankings and Alexander and McCantos are three-stars.

Cornerback is a big target for the Miami football team in the 2022 recruiting class. The Hurricanes already have commitments from four-stars, Chris Graves and Khamauri Rogers for 2022. Miami could lose as many as four cornerbacks to the 2022 NFL Draft. Malik Curtis is the only CB Miami signed in 2021.

Tyrique Stevenson who transferred from Georgia during the offseason, fourth-year CBs Al Blades Jr. and D.J. Ivey and third-year Te’Cory Couch are all Miami CBs who are eligible for the 2022 NFL Draft. All four have eligibility remaining beyond the 2021 season. It is likely Miami will lose some but not all four CBs.

Alexander is from Tampa, Bouie from Bainbridge, Georgia and McCantos plays for Miami Edison. New defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson and CBs coach DeMarcus Van Dyke have been credited for making a big difference recruiting for the Miami football program. Rivals profiled, Alexander, Bouie and McCantos.

"JAQUISE ALEXANDER | 6’0″ | 170 LBS | CB | 2022 | TAMPA CATHOLIC“Miami, UCF, Florida, West Virginia and FIU are the five standout schools for the three-star cornerback from Tampa (Fla.) Tampa Catholic but a decision is probably not close.Alexander wants to take his official visits first and the rumor is that UCF could look best heading into the fall as Florida and Miami might have a few others higher on the board."

Alexander is the 46th ranked CB on the Rivals.Com board. Miami is likely to add one more CB with Graves and Rogers currently committed. Alexander seems likely to be a prospect Miami continues to stay in touch with, but the Hurricanes have others they are considering more strongly than him.

"DEYON BOUIE | 5’11” | 167 LBS | CB | 2022 | BAINBRIDGE, GEORGIAThe former four-star Georgia commit looked like Texas A&M was becoming the team to beat and the Aggies are still definitely there but others are jumping in for the Bainbridge, Ga., cornerback.Florida, Florida State and Miami are getting more involved with recruiting Bouie and there seems to be mutual interest in all three of those programs. Georgia has also not given up in getting Bouie back in the fold, either."

The big three in Florida and Georgia will create competitive recruitment for the 13th ranked CB nationally according to Rivals. Miami is building a deep and talented CB unit for the future with the commitments of Graves and Rogers. Bouie would be a huge addition to Graves and Rogers with three four-star CBs committed for 2022.

"ELIJAH MC-CANTOS | 5’11” | 180 LBS | CB | 2022| MIAMI, FL, EDISONIllinois, Michigan, Penn State, Kansas and Miami are the main schools coming after the three-star cornerback from Miami (Fla.) Edison with LSU staying in touch but it isn’t regular contact right now. The Wolverines and the Illini have the edge for Mc-Cantos, who looked good this summer at the Rivals camps."

The recruitment of McCantos seems to be similar to Alexander. Cornerbacks are plentiful in South Florida. Evaluating and developing the top ones are essential for the Miami football staff. Robinson and Van Dyke have been praised as elite recruiters. Their addition to the Hurricanes staff should improve recruiting at CB.

Graves and Rogers make up half of the commits for Miami in 2022 with four-star quarterback Jacurri Rogers and three-star wide receiver Landon Ibieta. Miami has work to do with the remainder of their 2022 class, but the Hurricanes are off to a good start recruiting at CB.
