Miami football in good place for 4-star WR Isaiah Horton upcoming commitment
The Miami football program is in a good position for four-star wide receiver Isaiah Horton who announced on Friday he will be making his commitment later this month. Horton named a top four of Alabama, Florida, Miami and Tennessee via Twitter in February,
Crystal balls from 247 Sports director of football recruiting Steve Wiltfong and from local site reporter Gaby Urrutia both project Horton to commit to the Miami football program. Three-star WR Landon Ibieta is one of four commits to the 2022 Miami class. The Hurricanes expect more commitments in the coming weeks.
Horton is the 248th ranked player, 35th WR and ninth in Tennessee out of Oakland High School in Murfreesboro for 2022. In three high school seasons, Horton has 58 receptions for 877 yards and eight touchdowns. Horton had 34 for 643 and seven TDs as a junior in 2020. Miami WR coach Rob Likens is leading Horton’s recruitment.
Horton took his only official visit to Miami last month. Horton took unofficial visits with Alabama, Florida and two with Tennessee in June. During an interview with Sports Illustrated All-American published on Wednesday Horton spoke about his recruitment. The visit clearly went well per the interview.

"“Miami was a great visit…I loved it. Just as soon as I got off the plane, the atmosphere was great. People outside of Miami were asking me if I was a college player at Miami. It was a lot of love outside the campus. Then, when I got on the campus, it was even better.Coach (Rob) Likens, Coach Dub, Coach Manny Diaz, were all great people and great to meet. I enjoyed the rest of the coach as well. Coach Cooney was another one as well. My parents also loved Miami a lot too. That was a plus for me too because they enjoyed it. That visit went very well.”"
Horton would be a key addition to the 2022 Miami recruiting class. In addition to Ibieta, Miami has commitments from four-star quarterback Jacurri Brown and four-star cornerbacks Chris Graves and Khamauri Rogers. At 6’3, 190 pounds, Horton would provide Miami with the length Diaz prefers on the Miami roster.
Dee Wiggins is the only current scholarship WR on the Miami football roster who is listed at 6’3. Ibieta is 5’11 is slated as a slot WR. Likens has continually developed WRs in his career. Prior to coming to Miami, Likens helped Arizona State WRs N’Keal Harry and Brandon Aiyuk become first-round NFL Draft picks in 2019 and 2022.
