The Miami football program appears to be competing primarily with Florida State for a commitment from three-star offensive tackle Daughty Richardson. Richardson Tweeted on Monday he will commit on July 25 at 3 PM on Instagram Live. Richardson moved up his commitment from July 26.

All four crystal balls from 247 Sports project Richardson to commit to Florida State. Richardson began his high school career in Tallahassee. After playing for Miami Edison as a junior in 2020, Richardson will play for Miami Central as a senior in 2021. Arizona State and Kentucky are also on the shortlist for Richardson.

Richardson is the 459th ranked player, 44th OT and 64th in Florida for 2021. Miami offered 27 OT in the Class of 2022. Eleven of the OTs Miami offered scholarships to are uncommitted. Six of the 11 are listed as warm by 247, meaning they are strongly considering Miami. Four-star OT Julian Armella is also considering Florida State.

Three of the four crystal balls for Richardson are from Florida State writers. The fourth is 247 Sports national expert Bud Elliott. Although the four average a confidence score of eight out of 10 that Richardson will commit to the Seminoles, the most recent crystal ball for Richardson was logged on May 3.

A commitment from Richardson would help a Miami offensive line that could lose as many as eight players on the two-deep depth chart after the 2021 season. That number would be a nearly worst-case scenario. The Hurricanes have to add depth for the future after signing three OL in the 2021 class.

The Miami football program signed four-star guard Laurence Seymore, tackle Michael McLaughlin and three-star center Ryan Rodriguez in the Class of 2021. Head coach Manny Diaz and OL coach Garin Justice impressed signing McLaughlin, Rodriguez and Seymore on the 2021 OL. They have work to do for 2022.

Next. Miami in good place for 4-star WR Isaiah Horton. dark

Four-star Federal Way OT Malik Agbo and three-star Jacob Hood from Nashville are other OL to watch for Miami in 2022. Miami currently only has four-star quarterback Jacurri Brown, cornerbacks Chris Graves and Khamauri Rogers and three-star wide receiver Landon Ibieta committed for 2022.
