The O’Brien Award is the second Watch List that King was named to for the 2020 season after being named to the Maxwell Award Watch List on Monday. King will be one of the favorites for the major college football awards in 2021. Howell and Uiagalelei will be players to watch nationally and in the ACC in 2021.

Miami plays at North Carolina on October 16. The Hurricanes and Clemson are not scheduled to play in 2021. If Miami win the ACC Coastal Division this fall, the Hurricanes and Tigers could meet in the ACC Championship Game in Charlotte in December. King will be working in the second second under Rhett Lashlee on offense.

How much of an advantage is working in the second season of the Rhett Lashlee offense?

King makes the Miami offense go. Lashlee was hired from SMU in the 2020 offseason. The Miami football program used the spread offense for the first time in 2020. The uptempo version Lashlee runs can tire out defenses. Getting the right rhythm and tempo is critical for what Lashlee expects from his offense.

In their second second working together, King and Lashlee should have a better idea how the offense works best for them collaborating. The ability King has as a dual threat QB is perfect for what Lashlee wants from his signal caller. Another advantage for the Miami offense is the return of nine starters.
