Miami football gains commitment from rising OT Falentha Carswell
The Miami football programs gained a commitment from three-star offensive tackle Falehtha Carswell on Wednesday according to multiple media outlets. Carswell is a rising player at just 15 years old and recently changing from basketball to football. At 6’7 275 pounds Carswell has the length the Miami staff covets.
Carswell is the 737th ranked player, 64th ranked OT and 72nd in Georgia in the Class of 2022. Carswell has yet to play high school football but impressed the Miami football coaches enough with his athleticism to earn a scholarship offer. His visit to Miami last month was the only school Carswell has visited.
Carswell is the fifth commitment for Miami for 2022. Miami currently has commitments from cornerback Khamauri Rogers, four-star quarterback Jacurri Brown, four-star athlete Chris Graves and three-star wide receiver Landon Ibieta in the order of their recruiting rankings with Carswell the lowest.
Carswell is the latest player from Georgia to commit to Miami. Brown is also from Georgia and Miami has signed numerous players from the Peach State in the last few seasons. Offensive line coach Garin Justice was credited with Carswell’s commitment. Defensive line coach Jess Simpson is a legendary Georgia high school coach.

Carswell chose Miami over nearly a dozen other schools with all but one being Power Five program and Alabama and Clemson reportedly interested. Continuing to add offensive lineman in the Class of 2022 will be critical for Miami. The Hurricanes could lose their entire starting OL following the 2021 season.
Miami has offered 27 OTs in the Class of 2022. Eleven of the OTs Miami has offered are uncommitted and four are strongly considering the Hurricanes according to 247Sports. Miami signed a strong group of OL in the Class of 2021. Building on the 2021 OL signees is important for the Hurricanes’ future.
Carswell is a project who will Ideally redshirt as a freshman to continue to learn and get acclimated to playing football. Depending on how many OL Miami losses after the 2021 season, they could seek to add an OL from the transfer portal. Miami signed former UNLV OL Justice Olusaseun as a transfer during the 2021 offseason.
