Miami Hurricanes Most important QB D’Eriq King

King stabilized QB for the Miami football team in 2020. After three seasons of inconsistent QB play, King provided Miami with elite dual-threat at the position. The extra season granted by the NCAA to all 2019-20 athletes allowed Lashlee a season to develop Tyler Van Dyke and Jake Garcia and to learn from King.

Garcia and Van Dyke are talented players who were four-star signees with Miami in 2020 and 2021. Having King around for another season is critical to allow them to develop without playing immediately. Quarterback is the toughest position to learn. King will work with them to develop for the future.

Head coach Manny Diaz has spoken about the importance of the Miami football program building culture. During the 2021 offseason, Diaz has constantly praised King for his current presence for the Hurricanes and the lasting impact he will have on the future Miami QBs. Garcia and Van Dyke will watch how King works.

King will also have an opportunity to quickly climb up the Miami leader boards in 2021. If he rushes for at least 472 yards, King will become the first Miami QB to rush for 1,000 career yards. Malik Rosier currently holds the career rushing record by a Miami QB with 831. King needs 294 to eclipse the mark set by Rosier.
