Miami Hurricanes most important tight end Will Mallory

Will Mallory steps into the first-team TE vacated by the departure of Brevin Jordan to the NFL. Mallory has been groomed to be the replacement from Jordan since they signed together in 2018. Mallory had his best season in 2020 with 22 receptions for 329 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

The numbers Mallory put up in 2020 should be able to be doubled in 2021. Freshman Elijah Arroyo will receive significant playing time as the second-team TE. Lashlee often utilized two TE sets in 2020 with Jordan and Mallory playing together. Tight ends have been productive throughout Lashlee’s career as an offensive coordinator.

Mallory set a career-high with six receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown in the 44-41 Miami victory over North Carolina State last season. For the first time in his career, Mallory had two TDs against Pittsburgh in 2020. Miami returns to Raleigh on October 21 for a rematch of one of the best 2020 ACC games.

Mallory was named to the preseason watch list for the Mackey Award honoring the best TE in college football. Kellen Winslow II in 2003 is the only Miami player to earn the Mackey Award. Jordan was a finalist in 2020. Mallory will be a player to watch for the Miami football team in 2021.
