Miami football moves to 58th in 2022 with Isaiah Horton Commitment
The Miami football program moved from 61st to 58th in the 2022 recruiting rankings with a commitment from four-star wide receiver Isaiah Horton. Horton is the 248th ranked player, 39th WR and eighth in Tennessee in the Class of 2022. Horton is the seventh commit to Miami for 2022 and fourth in July.
Cornerback Chris Graves, linebacker Justin Medlock and offensive tackle Falentha Carswell also committed to Miami earlier in July. Horton is the second WR committee to Miami for 2022. Three-star Louisiana prospect Landon Ibieta committed to Miami in June. Horton is the third-highest ranked 2022 Miami football commit.
Cornerback Khamauri Rogers is the highest-ranked 2022 Miami commit and quarterback Jacurri Brown is second. Miami will likely seek one to two more WRs for 2022. Mike Harley is entering his last season of eligibility. Oklahoma transfer Charleston Rambo seems likely to enter the NFL Draft following the 2021 season.
Jeremiah Payton, Mark Pope and Dee Wiggins are all 2022 NFL Draft eligible. Miami has signed seven WRs in the last two classes. The foundation is set for the Miami wideouts for the next few seasons. Miami has to continue adding depth. Signing another transfer WR could be an option for Miami during the 2022 offseason.
At 6’3, 175 pounds, Horton provides Miami with the length that the Hurricanes seek throughout its roster. Horton has 58 receptions for 877 yards and eight touchdowns for Oakland High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee in three seasons. Horton had 34 receptions for 643 yards and seven TDs as a junior in 2020.
Horton chose Miami over Alabama, Florida and Tennessee. Miami was the only program to receive an official visit from Horton. Horton did take unofficial visits to Alabama and Florida and two to Tennessee in June. Wide receivers coach Rob Likens gets credit for securing the commitment from Horton.
There are 20 uncommitted WRs still considering Miami. Five of those WRs are still strongly considering Miami or listed as warm by 247. Horton was one of four WRs who visited Miami in June. Ibieta, previous Miami commit Quan Lee and Jayden Gibson who is still considering the Hurricanes were the other three.
