The Miami football program received its third elite cornerback in the Class of 2022 with the commitment of four-star Trequons Fegans on Friday afternoon. Fegans joins four-star classmates, Chris Graves and Khmauri Rogers. New defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson and CBs coach DeMarcus Van Dyke have made a huge impact.

Robinson and Van Dyke received co-credit for the commitment from Fegans according to his 247 Sports profile. Fegans announced his commitment on Instagram Live while in Miami. The appearance from South Florida by the Alabama resident was a good indicator Fegans would commit to the Hurricanes.

Fegans is the 82nd ranked player in 2022, 11th ranked CB and fourth in Alabama. Rogers is the 11th ranked CB for 2022. Graves is the 14th ranked athlete. Miami projects Graves as a CB in college. Robinson and Van Dyke have to be praised for securing three elite CBs in the Class of 2022.

Miami has received inconsistent play at CB in recent seasons. The Hurricanes beat out primarily Alabama and Georgia for Fegans’ commitment. The Crimson Tide and Bulldogs have been arguable the two best programs in recruiting since Georgia hired Kirby Smith to succeed Mark Richt in 2021.

Fegans is the eighth commit to the 2022 Miami recruiting class. The Hurricanes moved up to the 45th ranked class. Miami has received five commits in July. Four-star wide receiver Isaiah Horton committed to Miami on Wednesday. The Hurricanes are starting to build momentum in a class that has been slow to develop.

Fegans is compared to former Cincinnati Bengals CB Dre Kirkpatrick and projected as a second or third-round NFL Draft pick by Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports. Miami led FBS in 2018 allowing 135.6 passing yards per game. The Miami secondary has a chance to be that good in two to three years with Fegans, Graves and Rogers at CB.

Miami could add one more CB to their 2022 Class. Three-stars Nick Cull and Ja’Cari Henderson are worth watching. Robinson and Van Dyke have shown they are elite recruiters. Miami has upgraded their CB play for the future. Adding two of the top 11 CBs in 2022 is a coup for the Miami football staff.
