According to Andrew Ivins of Inside the U, the Miami football program is in a good spot to receive a commitment from four-star safety Markeith Williams. Williams will announce his college commitment on August 11 at 7 PM ET. Williams is the 242nd ranked player, 17th safety and 28th in Florida in the Class of 2022.

Ivins also reported that Williams has narrowed his finalists to Miami, Nebraska and Ohio State. Williams has taken unofficial visits with the Miami football program on June 1 and the last weekend in July. Williams also took official visits to Nebraska and Ohio State and an unofficial visit to Central Florida in June.

No 247 crystal balls have been logged for Williams. Miami being the only program that Williams has reportedly visited twice is a good omen for the Hurricanes. According to Ivins, Williams had 13 interceptions in his first two high school seasons before opponents stopped throwing to his side of the field.

Williams told CaneSport in a June 1 interview he chose August 11 as his commitment date because that is his birthday. Williams indicated visits to Alabama and Florida in the interview with CaneSport, but there is no indication by 247 that he ever took those visits. Williams would be the first safety committed to Miami for 2022.

Miami had a productive July adding five commits. The Hurricanes have four-star cornerbacks Chris Graves, Trequon Fegans and Khamauri Rogers in the Class of 2022. Miami has offered 27 safeties for 2022. Fourteen of the 27 safeties Miami offered are currently uncommitted. Four safeties are still strongly considering Miami.

Williams is the second-highest ranked of the safeties still strongly considering the Hurricanes according to 247 Sports. Five-star safety Kamari Wilson is still listed as warm for Miami with several high-profile schools competing to sign the IMG star. Three-star Damari Henderson and unranked Dominick Fields are the other two.
