Miami football trending for safety Markeith Williams ahead of commitment
The Miami football program is trending for 2022 four-star safety Markeith Williams ahead of his Wednesday evening announcement. Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports and Rivals.Com project Williams to commit to the Hurricanes. A commitment from Williams would be the first safety for Miami in the Class of 2022.
The Miami football program has a trio of four-star cornerbacks committed for 2022 with Chris Graves, Trequon Fegans and Khamauri Rogers have all committed to the 2022 Miami class. Williams is the 242nd ranked player, 17th ranked safety and 28th in Florida in the Class of 2022.
Miami is reportedly competing with Nebraska and Ohio State for a commitment from Williams. Ishmael Aristide and Travaris Robinson are leading the Miami recruitment for Williams. Williams plays at Orlando Evans for former Miami defensive end Kennard Lang and his cousin Tamon Lynum plays for Nebraska.
Robinson and Miami CBs coach De Marcus Van Dyke have been exceptional in securing commitments for the 2022 Hurricanes class. Williams took his second unofficial visit to Miami this weekend. Williams also took official visits to Nebraska and Ohio St and an unofficial visit to Central Florida in June.

Williams to commit to the Miami football program with 100 percent on their FutureCast and 45 percent on their FanFutureCast. Ivins logged a crystal ball for Williams to Miami with a confidence score of eight. Williams is making his collegiate commitment public at 7 PM ET on Wednesday via social media per Ivins.
Miami has offered 26 safeties in the Class of 2022. Thirteen safeties that Miami offered remain uncommitted. Including Williams, four are listed as warm for Miami by 247 Sports or strongly considering the Hurricanes. Williams is the second-highest-rated safety Miami has offered. Five-star Kamari Wilson tops the Miami safety board.
A commitment from Williams would move Miami from 47th to 37th in the 2022 recruiting rankings just ahead of Purdue and behind Georgia Tech. Miami is quickly moving up the
after being ranked in the 70s earlier this summer. Manny Diaz and his staff have taken a more deliberate approach.
The Hurricanes are emphasizing quality over quantity and being patient. As Diaz stated last month teams do not win recruiting in July. Miami is 10th nationally with an average per player recruiting score of 90.93 according to the 247 Sports composite. Diaz probably wants to leave some room for transfers during the 2022 offseason.
Miami has been one of the most active programs in the transfer market. A commitment from Williams would be important to add depth and talent at safety. With a grade of 91.06, Williams would increase the average ranking for Miami in their class of 2022. Miami should still finish with a top 20 class.
