Miami football projected to finish 10-2 by national website

The Miami football team enters the 2021 season with 19 returning starters and high expectations. Miami will be tested early with the season opener against Alabama in Atlanta on September 4. The Hurricanes are preseason ranked 14th in the AP Media Top 25 and 16th in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

With less than two weeks to the opening weekend for most college football, national previews have been prevalent from multiple websites. The Miami football team is projected to finish 10-2 overall and 7-1 in the ACC by 247 Sports. Miami is projected to lose to Alabama and North Carolina by 247.

North Carolina is projected to have identical 10-2, 7-1 records by 247. The Tar Heels would win the tiebreaker to emerge as the ACC Coastal Division champion with the win over the Hurricanes. North Carolina is projected to lose to Notre Dame and North Carolina State. Miami plays the Tar Heels, but not the Fighting Irish.

If Miami finishes 10-2 in 2021, they would likely earn a berth in a New Year’s Six Bowl Game. The Orange Bowl is hosting one of the two College Football Semifinals in 2021. The Cotton Bowl is hosting the other CFP Semifinal. Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis is hosting the CFP National Championship Game in January.

If the Miami football team splits with Alabama and North Carolina they will contend for a college football playoff berth. The Hurricanes have to remain focused every week. Miami won all the games they were expected to in 2020. The next step for Miami in 2021 is to win games they are not favored or tossups.
