The over/under on wins for the Miami football team is nine according to Wynn Bet. Miami is ranked third in the ACC behind Clemson with an over/under win total of 11.5 and North Carolina with nine. Depending on the media site or sportsbook, Miami and North Carolina are the ACC Coastal Co-favorites.

The Miami football team opens the season as a near 20 point underdog against Alabama. The Hurricanes will almost definitely be favored in their next four games at home against Appalachian State, Michigan State, Central Connecticut State and Virginia. After a bye week, Miami plays at North Carolina on October 16.

Depending on the start Miami gets off to this season, the Hurricanes should be favored in its final six games after playing North Carolina. The nine-win total for Miami is attainable. At the least, the Hurricanes should match that number. Miami did not have any losses in 2020 in games they were prohibitive favorites.

After losing three games as double-digit favorites in 2019, head coach Manny Diaz had Miami focused in every game in 2020 with the exception of North Carolina. If Miami wins at North Carolina attaining nine wins is close to a lock. Appalachian State as one of the best Group of Five teams could be a competitive game.

The week after the Miami football team travels to Chapel Hill they host North Carolina State at Hard Rock Stadium. The Wolfpack is one of only four teams on the Hurricanes ACC schedule with an over/under win total above .500. North Carolina, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech are the other three.

Miami and NC State was an extremely competitive game last season. The Hurricanes will play in Raleigh for the second straight season. Miami also has 2021 road games at Pittsburgh, Florida State and Duke. Pittsburgh is always competitive with stout defenses under head coach Pat Narduzzi.

Diaz stressed to Miami during training camp the importance of focusing on their job. Miami improved from 6-7 during the first year under Diaz in 2019 to 8-3 in 2020. The Hurricanes should easily be able to reach nine wins in 2021 if they take care of the games they are expected to win.

The difference in reaching the over will be if Miami can win at North Carolina and not stumble in one of the other games. Having four straight games at home after opening against Alabama should help Diaz and his staff to gain continuity for the remainder of the 2021 season.
