Five Miami Hurricanes true freshmen earned spots on the two-deep depth chart for Alabama released on Monday. Quarterback Jake Garcia, tight end Elijah Arroyo, kicker Andres Borregales, and safeties James Williams and Kamren Kinchens were all listed as second-team on the depth chart for the Crimson Tide on Saturday.

Five-star defensive tackle Leonard Taylor was not listed on the two-deep depth chart. Taylor is likely to be the fourth DT in the rotation for Miami behind fifth-year senior Jon Ford, fourth-year player Nesta Silvera and third-year redshirt freshman Jared Harrison-Hunte on Saturday. Expect Taylor to receive significant snaps Saturday.

Garcia is listed as the co-second team QB with second-year Tyler Van Dyke behind D’Eriq King. Garcia and Van Dyke will likely have to point to the fourth Miami football game of the 2021 season against Central Connecticut State for any significant playing time. Miami plays Appalachian State and Michigan State the previous two weeks.

Arroyo could be a key play at TE playing behind Will Mallory. Miami Hurricanes offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee often utilizes two TE sets. Arroyo is poised for a solid freshman season as a key contributor. Mallory had 22 receptions for 329 yards and four touchdowns as Hurricanes’ second-team TE in 2020.

Borregales will likely be the most important freshman for Miami in 2021. Succeeding his brother Jose who was the Groza Award winner in 2020 will be a lot of pressure. Borregales made 67 out of 69 extra point attempts and 15 of 20 field goal attempts with a long of 57 during his high school career at Chaminade-Madonna.

Williams is the second ranked signee in the 2021 Class and on the Miami roster behind Taylor. The versatility Williams provides the Miami defense is a big boost for the Hurricanes in 2021. Williams talent will be an asset against Alabama. How much he has learned the defense will likely dictate how many snaps Williams receives.

Kinchens was one of three signees for Miami with wide receiver Romello Brinson and tight end Khalil Brantley from Miami Northwestern. Kinchens will have a chance to earn more playing time after the announcement that second-year freshman Brian Balom is out for the season with an undisclosed injury.
