With punter Lou Hedley returning to Miami and Andres Borregales (brother of former Canes kicker Jose Borregales) manning the kicking duties, Miami has a solid special teams pairing. Those two, as well as the return specialists for Miami, need to be consistent to put the Hurricanes in a better position to win the game.
Field position is one of the most important aspects of football and the special teams units can create for Miami. Special teams is going to play an important role for Miami and can be the boost the Hurricanes need to topple Alabama.
There is no question that Alabama and Miami is going to be a dogfight of a football game. The Crimson Tide are ranked as the preseason number one team in the country and for good reason. But Miami is coming off of a strong year, building a solid offense under coordinator Rhett Lashlee.
With another year under Lashlee’s belt at Miami, the Canes offense should take another step forward. Head coach Manny Diaz will bring the defensive presence that the Hurricanes need to compete for something more than just a bowl game appearance.
