The Miami football team will host Michigan State on Saturday hoping to build off their victory over Appalachian State last weekend. Michigan State enters Saturday 2-0 after victories at Northwestern and at home last weekend against FCS Youngstown State. Miami is a six-point favorite over Michigan State per WynnBet.

The Miami football team has not covered the spread in either game this season. The Hurricanes lost 44-13 to Alabama as a 19.5 point underdog and were favored by nine in the 25-23 victory over Appalachian State last Saturday. Michigan State has covered the spread in both of their 2021 games.

For the second time this season, Miami will appear on an ABC nationally televised game. The Hurricanes opened the season against Alabama on ABC before appearing on ESPNU in last week’s primetime game. Miami and Michigan State both have injuries to key players for Saturday’s game. Second-team running back Don Chaney Jr. for the season last week with a torn ACL. Starting linebacker Keontra Smith is not expected to return until October 16 after his own knee injury. Michigan State is decimated on the defensive line.

Drew Beesley,  Itayvion “Tank” Brown and Drew Jordan did not dress for Michigan State against Youngstown State. Brown is not expected to play. Beesley and Jordan are working their way back according to Spartans head coach Mel Tucker. The Miami defensive line might have an advantage against an undermanned Spartans DL.

Miami has won all four of their previous games against Michigan State. The Hurricanes defeated the Spartans 26-20 in East Lansing on September 30, 1989. Miami at Michigan State was canceled last season due to COVID. No makeup game for the Hurricanes at the Spartans has been announced.

Michigan State is the penultimate 2021 non-conference game for Miami. The Hurricanes host Central Connecticut State next Saturday at 12:30. Miami has a quick turnaround after playing the Blue Devils. The Hurricanes open ACC play five days late on September 30 at 7:30 PM on ESPN against Virginia at Hard Rock Stadium.
