The ACC power rankings after week four vary greatly depending on the national website. The Miami football team is anywhere from eighth from 247 Sports to about 11th in the ACC Power Rankings. The Hurricanes are coming off of a 69-0 victory over Central Connecticut State last weekend. Miami host Virginia on Thursday.
For the first time in recent memory, Clemson is not the top team in the ACC Power Rankings. The Tigers are ranked fifth by 247 Sports. The top three and four of the top five teams in the ACC are from the Atlantic Division. Virginia Tech who is fourth is the only ACC Coastal Division team ranked in the top five in the ACC.
Miami is the third highest ranked team in the Coastal based on the 247 rankings. In addition to Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh is ranked sixth overall in the ACC. With Clemson’s struggles the ACC is wide open this season. Miami begins ACC play against Virginia. Preseason favorite North Carolina has started conference play 1-2.
Clemson is 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the ACC after losing at North Carolina State in double overtime on Saturday. The Miami football team does not play the Tigers. The Wolfpack plays at the Hurricanes on October 23. Miami plays at North Carolina on October 16. Following the game against Virginia, Miami has an extended bye.

After playing the seventh toughest schedule nationally through the first four weeks, Miami has 48th toughest schedule in the country through the remainder of the season. The ESPN Football Power Index favors Miami to win in six of their eight remaining games. Miami is given a 22.5 percent chance to win the Coastal by the FPI.
Pittsburgh is the favorite at 38.3 percent. The Hurricanes play at the Panthers on October 30. Miami is fifth in the ACC in the FPI rankings. Clemson is first, followed by Pittsburgh, NC State, UNC and Miami. NC State is in the favorite to win the Coastal after their victory over Clemson with the Tigers second.
Miami moved up 11 spots last week in the FPI to 24th. The Hurricanes fell in the CBS Sports Power Rankings from 55th overall to 62nd. NC State is the highest ranked team nationally in the CBS Sports Power Rankings at 28th, Clemson is 29th, UNC 40th, Louisville, 46th and Pittsburgh 53rd ahead of Miami.
Other national rankings also vary greatly. Miami is ranked 31st nationally by TeamRankings.Com and 70th by Sports Reference. A month into the college football season there has been a lot of upheaval. Miami has a chance to win the ACC Coastal and finish the season strongly. The 2021 season has seen a lot of parity.
