Miami football top prospect 4-star TE Jaleel Skinner commitment Friday
Four-star 2022 tight end Jaleel Skinner will make his commitment announcement on Friday. Skinner tweeted on Tuesday in front of hats from the Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Texas and Miami football programs. After Florida State trended early, Alabama received multiple recent forecasts.
Skinner is projected to sign with Alabama at 68 percent by 247 Sports and 69 percent from Rivals.Com. The eight most recent crystal balls from 247 Sports for Skinner are trending towards Alabama. That includes from national reporters, Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong and National Expert Bud Elliott.
Southeast Recruiting Analyst Andrew Ivins is also among the 247 Sports analysts projecting Skinner to Alabama. Skinner took his official visit with the Miami football program in June and had an unofficial visit for the Virginia game last Thursday. Miami first offered Skinner a scholarship in August 2020.
Miami does not have a TE committed for 2022. Four-star TE Elijah Arroyo and three-star Khalil Brantley signed with Miami in 2021. Will Mallory will have the option of returning for his fifth season in 2022. Mallory has had a down season in his first full year as a starter. In five games, Mallory has nine receptions for 64 yards.
Also on the Miami roster at TE are Larry Hodges and Dominic Mammerelli. With all five Miami TEs eligible to return in 2022, the Hurricanes do not need to sign a player at the position. Skinner is an elite talent who is the top-ranked TE nationally in 2022, the 10th ranked player in Florida and the 74th player.
At 6’5, 210 pounds, Skinner has the size for TE and the skill set of a wide receiver. Skinner will continue to fill out. Currently at IMG Academy, Skinner is originally from Greer, South Carolina. Only two other TEs that Miami offered are uncommitted. Neither uncommitted TE Miami offered is strongly considering the Hurricanes.
Four-star Oscar Delp is currently trending towards his home state Georgia. Three-star TE Trent McGaughey from Conroe, Texas does not have any school trending to receiver a commitment from him. Arroyo is from Frisco, Texas near Dallas. Conroe is outside of Houston. The remaining TEs on the Miami roster are from Florida.
