Central Florida QBs

Based on the stats, the answer to Leggett’s question about the best QB in Florida has to be Dillon Gabriel of UCF. Gabriel has completed 68.6 percent of his passes for 818 yards, nine TDs and three interceptions with 24 carries for 125 yards and two TDs, plus one reception for 20 yards and a TD. UCF has started the 2020 2-2.

South Florida QBs

South Florida added former Miami QB Jarren Williams as a transfer in the 2020 offseason. After sitting out last season, Williams has had to watch four other Bulls throw a pass this season. Timmy McClain is the main USF QB. McClain has completed 58.7 percent of his passes for 781 yards, one TD and two interceptions.

McClain also had 54 carries for 158 yards. Backup Cade Fortin has completed 19 passes in 38 attempts for 132 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. Fortin is not the threat running that McClain is with seven carries for 17 yards. South Florida has started 1-4 with their only win over FCS Florida A&M.

The answer to Leggett’s question is Perry the best QB in Florida is no. If Perry did not transfer he would clearly be the current Miami Hurricanes starting QB. Perry made the right move transfering to FAU instead of being stuck behind King. There was no way to anticipate that King would get hurt. Perry rightfully wanted to play.
