Miami covered the 46 point spread in a 69-0 victory over Central Connecticut State. The Hurricanes have a six-game losing streak versus FBS opponents against the spread.

Miami at North Carolina Game outlook:

The North Carolina and Miami football teams have been extremely inconsistent this season. North Carolina averages 587.0 total yards per game in wins, 359 in losses. The Tar Heels will be playing their sixth straight game at home. North Carolina is 15th nationally in total offense averaging 386 yards per game.

The Tar Heels are 28th nationally averaging 35.5 points per game. North Carolina is averaging 52 points per game in wins and 19 in losses. The Tar Heels are led by quarterback Sam Howell. Howell is 17th nationally averaging 282.8 passing yards per game. Like the entire UNC team, Howell has extreme splits in wins and losses.

Howell is averaging 326.7 passing yards per game in wins and 239 in losses. With quarterback D’Eriq King announced out for the season on Monday after shoulder surgery, the Hurricanes cannot get in a shootout with a potent North Carolina offense. Miami has to be able to run against North Carolina.

The Hurricanes are 72nd in rushing offense averaging 161 yards per game. North Carolina is 80th against the run averaging 158.67 yards per game. Miami has a tough challenge ahead of them against the Tar Heels. North Carolina is coming off a 35-25 home loss to Florida State. It is tough to know which UNC team to expect.

There are so many variables with Miami traveling to Chapel Hill. The Hurricanes have not defeated a Power Five team since a 48-0 victory over Duke the week before losing to North Carolina last December. Tyler Van Dyke is making his third consecutive start in place of King. That gives the Miami offense a different dynamic.

The North Carolina defense has had trouble stopping dual-threat QBs this season. Van Dyke is primarily a pro-style QB who proved against Virginia he had the ability to run with a 25-yard TD on the ground. The over for North Carolina is 34.5, Miami is at 27.5 The Hurricanes have struggled offensively this season.

The best bet for Miami at North Carolina is taking the under that Miami will score less than the 27.5 set by WynnBet. This will be the first road start for Van Dyke. It’s a different challenge against the best team Miami will play in the extremely short Van Dyke era. Miami will need a complete team effort in Chapel Hill.
