The Miami Hurricanes offense has been rewarded with the production they had in the win over North Carolina State this weekend with several players receiving weekly awards. Second-year freshman quarterback Tyler Van Dyke was named the ACC Rookie of the Week and Jaylan Knighton the Running Back of the Week.

Fourth-year junior wide receiver Charleston Rambo was named the transfer of the week by 247 Sports. Van Dyke was 25-33 for 325 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions and ran nine times for eight yards. Knighton had his second straight game of over 160 total yards with 83 rushing and 83 receiving and one TD.

Rambo had the second 100-yard game this season with nine receptions for 127 yards and two TDs. Rambo is sixth in the ACC averaging 78.4 receiving yards per game and third with 6.3 receptions per game. In his first season with Miami, Rambo has become the Hurricanes’ best receiver.

The combination of Knighton and Rambo has provided the Miami Hurricanes with two explosive players on offense. Van Dyke had his best game of the season against North Carolina State and is completing 58.8 percent of his passes for 1,062 yards, nine TDs and three interceptions.

Knighton is averaging 4.1 yards per carry with 219 yards and two TDs and has eight receptions for 156 yards and two TDs. Rambo has 44 receptions for 548 yards and four TDs. Rambo is on pace to break the Miami single season reception record set by Leonard Hankerson with 72 in 2010.

After gaining 420 yards against North Carolina State’s top ranked ACC defense on Saturday, Miami will travel to Pittsburgh on Saturday compete against the Panthers’ second ranked defense. Miami has over 400 yards of total offense in three of Van Dyke’s four starts. NC State is fourth in the ACC in pass defense, Pittsburgh fourth.

Miami will need big performances again from Van Dyke, Knighton and Rambo to defeat the Panthers. The Hurricanes offense was consistent against North Carolina State after slow starts in their previous two games which were losses to Virginia and North Carolina. Miami needs more consistency to turn its season around.
