Miami leads the all-time series against Pittsburgh 28-11. The Hurricanes are 13-6 in Pittsburgh against the Panthers, which includes 6-1 at Heinz Field.
Three of the last four Miami-Pittsburgh games have been low-scoring. Miami won 31-19 at Hard Rock Stadium last season. The Hurricanes and Panthers combined for an average of 31 points in the three previous meetings. Pittsburgh is 6-1 overall, 3-0 in the ACC. The Panthers are 17th in the AP Top 25 and 19th in the Coaches’ poll.
Pittsburgh leads 3-2 all-time when they are ranked and Miami is unranked. The unranked Miami football team defeated number 24 Pittsburgh 24-3 in 2018 when the Panthers won its only ACC Coastal Division Title. Ranked Pittsburgh teams defeated unranked Miami in 1963, 1970 and 1976 when the Panthers.
Pittsburgh joined the ACC in 2013 and was assigned the Coastal Division. The Hurricanes and Panthers have met every season as Coastal Divison Rivals. Miami has won six of the eight meetings as ACC Rivals. The Hurricanes and Panthers were in the Big East together from 1991 through 2004.
Miami won 11 of the 12 games against Pittsburgh in the Big East between 1991 and 2004. The Panthers earned one of two victories as an unranked team against ranked Miami teams in 15 tries. The other Panthers victory as an unranked team against Miami came in 2017 against the 10-0 second ranked Hurricanes in 2017.
Pittsburgh enters the game on Saturday with a four game winning streak. The Panthers suffered its sole loss 44-41 to Western Michigan the third week of the season. Pittsburgh has wins against New Hampshire, at Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech and versus Clemson last Saturday. Pittsburgh last defeated Clemson in 2016.

Miami travels to Pittsburgh with their first win against a Power Five team since December 2020. The Hurricanes won late, 31-30, against North Carolina State last week. That came after losses to Virginia and North Carolina by a combined five points. Getting a win late is important to the confidence of the Miami football team.
Pittsburgh will be a difficult but not insurmountable challenge. The Panthers are the fourth ranked scoring offense nationally. Pittsburgh is 26th in scoring defense. Miami is 40th in scoring offense and 90th in scoring defense. Pittsburgh has not scored over 30 points against Miami since 2014.
Miami had 31 against Pittsburgh last season and defeated the Panthers 51-28 in 2016. The Miami and Pittsburgh offenses have been hot lately. Miami played its most complete game of the season last week against North Carolina State. The Hurricanes are going to have to get off to a good start at Pittsburgh this week.
