The Miami football team will have to add depth to their defensive line following the decision by 6’3 240 pound second-year freshman Quentin Williams to enter the transfer portal. Williams is the third Miami defensive lineman lost to transfer this year. Miami earlier lost defensive tackle Jalar Holley and DL Cameron Williams.

Holley and Cameron Williams entered the transfer portal this summer because head coach Manny Diaz said they did not live up to the Miami academic standards. Quentin Williams recorded two tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss against Florida State and one tackle versus North Carolina in his only two career games in 2020.

Miami has 13 defensive linemen remaining on the roster following the entry into the transfer portal by Quentin Williams. The Hurricanes will definitely lose defensive ends DeAndre Johnson and Zach McCloud and defensive tackle Jon Ford following the 2021 season. Several other Miami DL will have decisions to make.

Defensive tackle Nesta Jade Silvera who is in his fourth season with Miami, but a junior in eligibility seems the most likely to enter the NFL Draft. Jahfari Harvey at DT and DEs Jared Harrison-Hunte and Jordan Miller all have the option of entering the NFL Draft at the end of the 2021 season. Miller is unlikely to enter the draft.
