Misleading UCF Sports Information Twitter account tries trolling Miami Hurricanes

Following losses to UCF in basketball yesterday and FSU in football a Twitter account passing itself off as their Sports Information Twitter account attempted to troll the Miami Hurricanes. The victory by Central Florida was their third over Miami in the last five meetings in basketball, but the Hurricanes hold an 8-3 overall advantage.

The Miami Hurricanes loss to Florida State ended a four-year winning streak against the Seminoles. Miami holds a 35-30 overall lead against the Seminoles. On the below Tweet, Central Florida chose a video of Florida State fans over their own fans. Many years from now the loss to Florida State will be remembered by Miami fans.

With Florida State and Miami kicking off about 30 minutes after Central Florida finished off its victory over the Hurricanes only 2,950 people attended the game at the Watsco Center. The Knights’ victory over Hurricanes in basketball will be long forgotten in a few years if not weeks or months.

In 37 years as a Division I college basketball program, Central Florida has made five NCAA Tournaments. The Knights have finished in the top 25 in college football five times in 25 seasons in the Football Bowl Subdivision. UCF’s highest finish was sixth in 2017 when they ended the season 13-0.

Central Florida proclaimed themselves national champions following the 2017 season despite no major outlet doing so. Six days following the self-determined national title and parade at Disney World, the Coley Matrix named UCF as its national champion. UCF has never won an NCAA Championship in a team sport.

Miami has four NCAA baseball championships, one in women’s golf plus five football championships earned by major media polls. In the summer of 2024, UCF is moving from the American Athletic Conference to the Big XII. The Knights will have a chance to prove they can compete in a Power Five conference.

Florida State and Miami have each won both games they have played against Central Florida in Football. The Seminoles have won nine out of 10 against UCF in basketball. The Tweet was stated in fact.
