Other upgrades the Jurich helped secure were the building of the 22,090 capacity KFC Yum Center for the men’s and women’s basketball teams and an $18.5 million soccer stadium. Former Miami Hurricanes staffer, current Texas Tech deputy AD Tony Hernandez
Tony Hernandez is currently the Deputy Director of Athletics at Texas Tech under former Miami athletic director Kirby Hocutt. Hernandez began his career as an academic services graduate assistant at Miami. In 1999 Hernandez was hired full-time in the Miami athletic department as a compliance coordinator.
Hernandez was promoted to director of compliance in 2002, assistant athletic director for compliance in 2004, associate AD for compliance in 2005, senior associate AD in 2007 and deputy AD in 2010. Hernandez was the interim AD at Miami when Hocutt left before joining him in Lubbock.

He was also a part of the Miami athletic program when the Hurricanes moved from the ACC to the Big East.
