Miami Hurricanes athletic director candidates from outside program
Florida Atlantic athletic director Brian White
Brian White has been the athletic director at Florida Atlantic since 2018. White was responsible for hiring Dustin May as the Owls men’s basketball coach and Willie Taggart in football. In their last season under Lane Kiffin, White supervised FAU winning its second Conference USA championship in three seasons under Kiffin.
FAU fundraising has improved by 275 percent under White. White has experience in a Power Five Conference prior to becoming the AD at FAU. Before making the move to Boca Raton, White was the senior associate athletics director at Missouri from 2015 through his hiring at Florida Atlantic.
White was the sport administrator for football and men’s basketball at Missouri. Working in that capacity with the Tigers, White will understand what it takes for the two most important programs at any school to succeed. White is the son of Duke AD Kevin and brother of Florida men’s basketball coach Mike.
The hiring of a new athletic director is critical for the future of the Miami Hurricanes basketball and football programs. A new football coach and in the next few seasons, likely a new basketball coach will have to be hired. For Miami to return their program to national prominence getting the AD hire correct is critical.
