The Miami football program is in transition with a new athletic director that will be hired over the next few weeks followed by a decision on the future head coach Manny Diaz to follow. Miami will also have a roster in transition during the 2021 offseason. The Hurricanes will have several positions to fill during the 2022 offseason.

Miami will need to add players on the offensive and defensive lines and linebacker as the primary positions. The top 25 players in the transfer portal were released by 247 Sports earlier this week. Several of the players will be good fits for Miami. Former Hurricanes safety Gurvan Hall is ranked 17th by 247 Sports.

Six Miami scholarship football players are out of eligibility. Others could return for the 2022 season but are likely to move on. The defensive and offensive lines will be the most impacted units on the Miami football team with losses from the 2021 roster. Miami also needs to upgrade their talent and productivity at LB.

Cornerback, the defensive line, quarterback and wide receiver are the three most plentiful positions in the 247 Top 25 rankings. Miami has starting QB Tyler Van Dyke returning and a lot of talent at WR. The Hurricanes need WR depth but have other positions that are more glaring than wideouts.

Miami will have to rebuild its OL during the 2021 offseason. Starting center Jakai Clark is likely the only returning starter on the OL. The Hurricanes have players who project to start on the OL but need depth. Miami could lose as many as four DL during the offseason. There is one TE Miami has already targeted in the portal.
